Parents United

After Peirre and Sally were married, they were happy enough as husband and wife.

They both had their careers and commanded good salaries . Now and then they would be invited for dinner and their friends’ homes . Each time they would go to their friends they could see  there was something missing in their marriage as they watched their friends getting their kids ready for bed . They looked each other and without a word spoken they realised it was time for them to start a family , 

Most of their friends were young married couples with children of their own . They seemed to be very content and complete in their relationships and how different their lives were compared to their friends , 

 Without any more thought Peirre and Sally made the decision to try to have have a baby ,

It wasn’t that hard to do and within the year they discovered that the miracle of life had happened , the nine months flew in and their first child was born almost right before right before their eyes . The birth was fast and without any complication .

They felt honoured and blessed to see their new born child and even surprised beyond belief to what their love had brought .  .

Each day Peirre looked at Sally and they both looked at their new born baby . They both had no idea what to do or where to begin . They had been reading books and doing research about caring for a new born child but they were noy confident about handling their baby .

Sally didn’t want to ring her friends and Peirre was the same . The learning process about handling a new born was not that easy .

The little baby would lie there and look at them both .

“Sally it can’t be that hard . Pick him up tell him about what we do at work “

Sally picked him up and said ,

““Well, you don’t know much about us Jimmy but actually , there’s too much for you to know right away so I won’t go into too much detail”.

She handed the babu over to Peirre and he said ,

“Well yes , there you are and here we are . I can see you’re really there . Yes, it's true  there you are our little son and here am I looking back at you . Well Daddy's my name that’s Mummy there .”

He handed the baby back to Sally who said.

“I your Daddy’s wife and also your Mummy . So, as you see there is a lot of new things for us all to do and we’ve only just begun “

The baby began to cry and Sally handed him back to Peirre saying ,

“Do something , he’s crying “

He looked at her and said.

“Do what . I don’t know what to do “

At that moment he carried the baby in  his arms and walked around the room holding the baby close and suddenly the baby fell fast asleep

”What on earth did you do  .

Sally asked .

“I just thought about when I went to the zoo as a child and how the lions looked wild but as soon as it was feeding time, they all seemed so peaceful “

Sally said .

“Oh, my goodness ?”

 .“What’s the matter Sally ?

She replied ,

“I just remembered , I have to feed Jimmy . The midwife at the hospital explained what I have to do .“

Peirre replied ,

“So, what does eat “

“Breast milk “

Sally said and Peirre replied ,

“Do we have any ?”

“ I have some “

She replied and Peirre said ,

“Where did we get it ?”

Sallt replied ,

“I make it  Peirre”.

“ How do you make it ?”

He asked .

“It’s part of what women do “

She replied and when the bay woke up, she showed Peirre what was all about .

They started to learn little things everyday and seemed to be going ok with the baby in the house . Peirre was still at world and Sally was on maternity leave .

Before long things in the home were changing ., When Pierre came home from work, he was handed the baby while Sally took in the nappies from the washing line . It was a good feeling to be in such constant need . There was a bond growing between the baby and parents who were very proud parents .

There were regular hugs that brought a gleam to their eyes . He was so cute , so small , so innocent and at times so full of sounds , anything from giggles to ga ga’s to hearing him cry . Sometimes Peirre and Sally felt like nurses  other times they felt like entertainers making up parts of a show to get a reaction from their baby .

The love between them all increased and some days it was difficult for Peirre to go to work and leave the two people he loved more than anything in life .

But as hard as it was, he always got a thumbs up from them on thew way out the door .

Pierre and Sally had passed the test as new parents and they were learning fast.

The biggest lesson they learned was that becoming a parent for the first time is a wonderful experience . Everything you thought you knew is thrown out the window the name of love and that’s when personal sacrifice begins to make the difference .

None of us are ever trained to do what has to be dome looking after a baby but something inside takes over . It comes naturally .

Paternally and maternally Pierre and Sally were awakened to this inner calling  to be a loving parent . It allowed them to grow into more caring individuals . Now the house they live in had become a home .They soon discovered their parenting roles and couldn’t wait to show off to their friends . So, when the day came and they were invited over for lunch with their group of friends they took great pride in dressing up little Jimmy and packing a bag with the things they might need to care for their baby outside the home .

This first outing was like a new beginning for them as a family .

Everyone that day noticed a big change in them both . They looked like perfect parent’s and they had confidence in everything they did ,

That day there was an understanding that this group of people were all part of a team called Parents United .

They were strong in their love ; they were dedicated in caring for their children .

It also became clear that parenting a child is a personal experience , there are many responsibilities and challenges . There are different ways of coping and  accepting things . Everyone has their own procedure about caring for their child .

Pierre and Sally felt as if they had been accepted into this secret society where people share their realisation of what it takes to look after young children .

There are good times and better times and even times when you have to rise above in showing love and care whenever things go wrong and times are hard .

Everyone in the secret parents society agreed that It’s a lot easier to love and care when everything is going well but the real testing of being a parent  is found at a  much deeper level . To love and care for your child with an unconditional love that  grows stronger the longer you work together on understanding children and providing care for them who depend on their parents for everything .’

Sometimes it can be in a simple smile , which can say a lot to a child or giving them a minute of your time when you have no time to spare .

Pierre and Sally were learning all of these new skills and they were becoming closer and stronger in their love for each other  . That is all a child needs to know and often there is only one answer for a child which is to show love in the things you do and day . As young as a baby or a child is they see and hear everything their parents do .

and a lot of that they will file away for the day that they too will become parents /

It the unspoken things that sometimes cam leave a legacy . The way showed love and care for them when they were small is a beautiful message they will never forget .
