In Their Company
By Paul McCann
i took a wee dander up to the Star
sat down with Gerry and I had a jar
I heard some music
and laughter in there
and a great atmosphere for
us to share .
I went to the Shamrock
and took a seat ,
listened to all the Craic
that’s hard to beat
had a quiet pint
in the corner there
because I hadn’t much
money to spare .
Sometimes it’s good to go
just where I please ,
blowing through
and in and out
like a breeze
when you’ve only the price
for one or two ,
and no one wants to come
and sit with you .
Its nice to see them
sitting in the clubs
or even down town
in some of the pubs ,
I’m happy to be there ,
in my own way ,
to be in their company everyday .
.

Only the lonely
I don't think I was ever in an Irish pub without at least one person wanting a chat with me.
And some of those people were so interesting. I've met the very thirsty brothers of John Lennon, Alex Ferguson and Joni Mitchell (yeah, right!). It's strange how you never see John, Alex and Joni in those places themselves.
You could never be lonely in Letterfrack.
