The Walk Of Life

Some people walk through life
and leave dirty footprints in the snow ,
while others tread softly
and make their mark as they come and go .

Some walk holding hands ,
some walk alone with no one by their side ,
some walk holding weapons ,
some walk with shame
and some walk with pride .

Some cannot walk and need help ,
some hold a white stick as they walk ,
some walk in silence alone
while others like to walk and talk .

Some walk as refugees ,
others are lost with nowhere to go
some walk in fear ,
some walk in anger ,
some walk fast ,
some walk slow .

Some walk to explore ,
while some walk with guilt
trying to forget ,
some walk in chains ,
some people walk away to avoid conflict.

Some walk on crutches ,
and some walk in poverty on bare feet ,
some walk through the muck and mud ,
others walk along a high street .

The walk of life is a journey,
we take one step at a time ,
we come with nothing ,
we go with nothing ,
life is yours and mine .
