Woman Of The Night
By Paul McCann
I met her on a staircase in the city ,
dressed in red and she looked so pretty,
I thought I heard her say I‘ve no where to stay ,
I looked at her as she walked away
I saw her on a sidewalk in the city ,
I thought to myself its such a pity
as sure as hell , she was trying to sell ,
herself to passers by in the night
She was met by a man with a gun ,
who was a wanted man on the run ,
when she took out a knife he lost his life
on a corner where she stands every night
She walked down the street to a bar
and the police they arrived in a car ,
She tried to hide but they found her inside
in a locked room without a light
They say there’s no justice at times
for victims of some peoples crimes ,
She had taken enough and was street smart and tough
and could handle herself in a fight .
She wouldn’t raise her hands up for them
she put a knife into a policemen
so they shot her six times there’
and the people said it just wasn’t right .

as they say in the old B-movies galls, guns, knives and booze don't mix. It ain't right. [it's] such a pity.
