Nineteen sixty

You arrived on this earth

Our mother to be

 

After your birth

There came five others

A total of twelve

Sisters and brothers

 

You could tell then

God fated you children

First there came me

And then there came him

 

By him I mean

My beloved brother

The greatest sibling

One like no other

 

Now lets go back

To when you had me

Once labour was over

Two became three

 

I looked up at you

Tears in your eyes

The fact I was perfect

A pleasant surprise

 

You gazed down at me

And I took your finger

That bond between us

Will always linger

 

Not many at forty

Can say with devotion

Their love for their mother

A great emotion

 

Soon I will be

An hour away

And live in Dundalk

Where sometimes you’ll stay

 

A bed will always

Be at the ready

That goes for Keith too

And Patch his teddy

 

Tis Keith the reason

That this party happened

Turned out better

Than anyone imagined

You’re officially sixty-five

Nanny’d be so proud

If she were alive

 

So lets raise our glasses

Up in the air
