We’ll follow the path
To the old tree swing
Down by Roslyn pond
Hand in hand
Shy smiles
Back and forth
Our footprints
On the worn dirt path
Last only seconds
In the summer wind
The morning light
Soft and warm
The day
Is just beginning
The morning birds
Sing serenades
The pond is filled
With ducklings
The park is ours
We’re all alone
I sit upon the tire
Your strong push
Sends me flying
Up and back
My stomach flutters
With butterflies
Enjoying the sensation
Laughing as I fly
You and me
This fine summer day
Sharing
The newness of love
Walking back
Along the path
We stop beneath our tree
Our first kiss happened
Beneath its bough
Our second
is just as potent
