with promises I stand,

but all desires I cannot meet

even if they are your dreams sweet.

United we may try to gather

get we some and some never

I cannot promise you

life of cloudless sunshine turning your dreams true.

Promise you, I cannot

wealth, power and luxurious comfort

To you I cannot promise

eternal beauty and youth without decay and demise.

But I can promise you

affection, respect, care and love true,

a smile to mitigate your grief and sorrow

hands to hold yours, to row across swelling rivers or freezing snow.

The feelings for you in my heart in words cannot be said,

for shake of your dignity lose I may my head,

ears to listen your wants and words with rapt attention

try myself utmost if I can bring your satisfaction,

eyes to shed tears in your misery

tongues to speak and sing your glory,

legs dedicated to carry you over difficult path

wisdom of mine at your service for your joy and mirth.
