Walk in the Woods

As I took a walk deep into a forest,
A deer stood looking its lightest,
For it was the middle of winter,
The deer had lost an antler,
I stood and watched it for a bit,
It glowed a little because it was starlit,
Naturally I gazed through amazed eyes,
As the deer replied, "likewise",
It was startling, for, I had never heard a deer talk,
Surely I was in an immense amount of shock,
It began telling me stories of a person's life,
I cried as it told me of how the man's life was full of strife,
In an attempt to relieve me of my sobbing,
The deer began to glow and it was very blinding,
I shielded my eyes with my arms,
When I took them down I saw a bunch of charms,
"Why did you make these appear?",
I asked the magical deer,
"For you my sweet, for you are but a pretty bird,",
I wondered if it was saying I was a coward,
"You are not a coward my girl,",
Suddenly down a tree, came a squirrel,
"What do you need my friend?",
"I need to find a way to ascend," it said,
The deer nodded and did a little snap,
Suddenly the squirrel began to unwrap,
First his fur, then his skin,
Then he bagan to turn-in,
I gasped and gawked,
For you can guess I was very shocked,
More so than when the deer had talked,
Suddenly without a doubt I squaked,
The deer looked over and gave me a smile,
And without a goodbye, turned into a woodpile,
I left the woods that dark strange night,
Upon reaching home I saw the most beautiful sight,
There was leopards and lions,
Lemon pies and bisons,
My wife she stood, happily, upon our porch,
"Tis' a good night tonight, will you get the blowtorch?"

Very interesting mix of
Very interesting mix of feelings. Most of all it makes me think of the magical unknown origin where spritis reside and perhaps from where we come from... a place where humor and unexpeced sights are at home. :) I especially like the like "As the deer replied, "likewise"" NIce use of the word "likewise." And when you mention the squirrell wanting to ascend, I thought of how something unraveling its body is basically a description of entering a differnt realm. Ending whith, "will you get a blowtorch" was a perfect amound of absurdity.
