Whispering Hearts

"But why do you love me?"
You ask me tonight.
I take a deep breath,
But before I can speak--
Your eyes are so blue,
Into their depths I fell,
Drowned in loves deep running!
I stumbled into that abyss
And found acceptance!

I see me there as you do
And there I love me.

Quietly you whisper,"Will you answer?"
I nod yes and take a deep breath,
Preparing to open my heart.
You kiss me so softly, or--
Was it the wing of a passing Angel?

Your face so kind, manner so sweet.
I see the twinkle put in your eyes by our children .
I look deeper and see me safe in your heart.
I exhale without saying one word.
You smile and say,"That's why I love you!"
