Carreg Samson (Samson’s stone)
(– who else could have lifted it
on to its throne?)
A legend of a local Samson
putting it in place with one finger!
Sentinel in a field by the wild coast rugged.
Marker of where the corpses with ritual were buried.
Exposed now, but once well covered,
cool shelter appreciated by sheep.

Well done Samson!
A megalithic dolmen. I've been visiting these places in Ireland all my life and they never fail to mystify me as I try to imagine the human activity that led to their being there. They're always in peaceful and beautiful settings where a good old dose of fresh air helps you to think and reflect on life. Those stone age people certainly knew what they were doing.

I too have always been
I too have always been fascinated by these colossal stones, imagining that giants did once roam the eath in the long distant past. Your poem summarizes their enigma.
Enjoyed reading Rhiannon.
