[Continuing the hymn-for-Sundays series]
The furnace hot refines,
and hard the cleansing heat:
no cross or tribulation borne
but will bring benefit.
As all the doubts and fears
of many kinds press down,
Our Father’s in the midst with us,
His help sufficient known.
Adopted, born again –
with care and wisdom, love,
His child he’ll train, support, prepare
for life in heaven above.
[Based on part of a long poem in Welsh by Robert Owen (poetic name: Eryron Gwyllt Walia)]
