The Great Exchange!

[Continuing the hymn-for-Sundays series]

The One who had no sin at all 
took on our sin to save us,
and so he bore its judgement full –
his righteousness he gave us.
    Oh, what exchange astounding!
    Such mercy, grace abounding!

And so he views us clean as though
we’d never sinned at all:
no guilt, forgiven, so much we owe,
and long to tell and call
    to those around, ‘Be reconciled,
    receive the grace in Christ supplied.’
