[Continuing the hymn-for-Sundays series]

We remember incarnation*
of the Teacher good and kind.
Then rejection, crucifixion
of the King who healed the blind –
resurrection and ascension
so that we God’s grace may find.

Now again, anticipation
for He will return one day.
We share now offered redemption
’til He comes to sweep away
all the evil sin pollution,
and His glory full display.

“We wait for the blessed hope – the glorious appearing of our great God and Saviour, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.” Titus 2:13,14

Keeping up with the times – could even go for rap lyrics! Nothing wrong with that, we have brilliant gospel rap! Of the best. There is brilliant heavy-metal gospel too – “Why should the devil have all the good music?”

I don't think the devil does have all the best tunes! Sometimes a 'secular' tune can be used happily, sometimes it has too many not so good associations that it doesn't seem suitable. Rap seems to be to do with going for a beat and rhyme rather than using a tune! Rhiannon
