Shade

Shade in the shadow of the old oak tree,
shielded from the dazzle
of the shining noonday sun,
for the brassy dome of the sky beats
down as the searing sweltering, sunshine heats
scorching with a sizzle,
but the leaves of the trees
are shaken by a breeze –
freshened shelter
in the shifting, fluttering shadow
of the ancient, steadfast tree.

Just love your poem Rhiannon.
Just love your poem Rhiannon.
The Oak is most definitely my all time favourite tree, for me no other trees come close, which is why I thought your poem is a great tribute to this wonder.

Lovely. All those 's' add the sizzle and daze of summer but the tree stays rock solid throughout.

trees are such wonderful friends to us. They are beautiful in whatever state they may be when we look upon them. Telling stories of what they have seen and felt. Even in their uprooted state. They give us food and drink, shelter in all kinds of weather, warmth and security and air music to our ears.
I love your poem.... thank you....MarciaMarcia
