Sun shines for a
young fawn – not
understanding fear
but joyous in the taste
of life knowing
a special deer breathes
heavily nearby – a mother
who will cherish
with her dying breath
this little son
whose large ears &
wag of tail causes him
to run wobbly-forward to
his protector
his forever mother.

This poem bought back memories of when I saw Bambi. You describe well the little fawns innocence.
