Thirsty with Love

Work today was tough
barely able to walk
to the bar for a cool one
eases onto a lonesome
stool---parched lips
accepting
the soothing brew.
He hears the whoops
and hollers from the corner
not so far away –
his bar seat tilting for a
better listen
bragging rights belonging
to the red head
about days of youthful
escapades
booze – girls and skinny
in the late of light
lake shimmering---love
in the air
floating between boy
and man. From his stool
he smiles
at the memory.
