Birthday Ball
The stars shine brightly, through this cold and bitter night.
Snowflakes begin to fall, twinkling their colours of delight.
Whistling north winds, sending a shiver down your spine.
Soon a taken glass of sherry will make you feel so fine.
You've reached your destination, greeted and shaken by the hand.
A glass of wine is offered, while you listen to the band.
Best wishes pass around the hall, for this glittering array.
Congratulations are in order, for it is also your birthday.
Fancy dress is the theme, for these festive celebrations.
The costumes are outstanding and represent most nations.
Greeting cards adorn the bar; best wishes are given to all.
Drinks are flowing; dancing has started at this Christmas ball.
Tunes have been selected, so that everyone may join the fun.
People waltz round the floor, to show how it is done.
Prizes have been given to couples judged to be the best.
The guests always sing God Save the Queen with such zest.
The time has now arrived, for all of this merriment to end.
We now must be on our way, taking care on the icy bends.
To-morrow is Christmas; presents will all be displayed.
Now is the time when we give thanks, for a most glorious day.
