Edges

I can't remember the things that
Happened
How can I keep thinking about it when it's not clear what it is?
This morning the sky is that
Wonderful blue,
Like it should be,
Whiter around the edges
Darkening almost imperceptibly up to its 'highest' point,
Where a scattering of cotton wool clouds are intercepted by
A single aeroplane that
Cuts its metal track.
The leaves that fill the trees are that
Vibrant green,
Like they should be,
Each one with its own charm,
Burnt, crippling edges
Or thriving capillaries
Running paths out to
Extremities.
I think about the things that
Happened
But all I see is your
Face,
Such a distant familiarity,
Like everything is as it should be,
There are cracks but I can't
Perceive them.
Sun floods through the reds and greens of the stained glass
That makes the frail window
In your front door,
It dapples your features,
Your crooked nose
Becoming straight in the distortion.
We walk to the back of the house
The garden is in full bloom
So there are points of colour
At frequent intervals
Amid the lush,
Overwhelming greens.
I try to see the beyond
But there is no place,
So I take it as it is,
In its own broken beauty.
