Dealt
Life created the cards.
One pack.
Two colours:
Blood red, of life and love,
And black, the cross,
The mark of death,
Some say hate,
A twisted fate.
The colours are worn
In four symbolic suits.
The red heart
Overflowing with potential
So full of love.
The diamond that shines,
Made for beauty,
Ready for good.
The noisy club,
As it bashes and kills,
To bury life
In the soil
Dug out with the spade.
The cards are shuffled,
The deck is dealt,
The baby made;
Birthed into the world: By life for death,
After playing with the dealings
Of love and hate.
A teacher will offer hope,
A dealer will pawn addictions,
And the babe will choose:
One path towards its fate.
Or is the game rigged?
Is there a predetermined destiny?
Was the path already dealt
Before the baby even felt?

Much food for thought, here
Much food for thought, here Shannan, in your philosophical journey through life. Some effective imagery at work here.
