My Escape Route

My Escape Route
You are the escape,
from the mundane torment
of facing my life each morning.
You are the fresh air,
that I need to breathe
when my life is suffocating me.
You are the difference.
Your words change the scenery
of the grey world around me.
You are the power.
The resuscitating electricity
on a heart dying of misery.
You are the mountain view;
beyond my claustrophobic box,
society’s glass, in which I’m locked.
You are the sustenance;
in a world that drains my soul
through those who dictate: Control.
You are the light
in a world so very dark,
I believe, you are the only spark.
You are all I have left
as I slip into sure madness,
in a world that creates soulless sadness.
I don’t know you,
But I need you.
I can’t see you,
But I feel you.
I haven’t met you,
But I keep you.
Please:
Don’t let go…
And if you are part of my fall into insanity,
as oxygen is kept from my brain,
then let delirium reign.

Hi Shannon, I like the fact that this poem tells us the reader, that a need for support from another human being is so important. Enjoyed a lot and thank you for sharing. Jenny.

Lovely flow of thoughts and
Lovely flow of thoughts and words for your muse, who could be someone you only know online. It's a bit like a prayer, but I'd say the subject here is more human. Just my thoughts on reading.
Enjoyed your poem very much.
