My Heart Aches

My Heart Aches
I was blessed
With a precious gift
An exotic rose
Home grown
Heaven extracted to earth
Exuding a perfume
Earth could never hold
Ether returning to heaven.
It stood proud
Tall
Blossoming beauty
Fragranced with charm
Holding my senses addicted
With every inhale
So deep
Deeply
Dipping into its essence
Its captivating Soul;
Leaving me stunned
In every respire
High on magnificence
Unable to let go
Praying for it to stay so.
Mourning followed
Grief for each petal
Slowly curling in
Yellowing
Falling
Delicate tears
Knowing
I can’t hold on
To essence
As it disappears. . .
I don’t want to let it go
Another thing I love
Leaving me behind
Not again

Very evocative to the senses
Very evocative to the senses and conveying the beauty and delicacy of scent. All reminds us of the permanent beauty and glory we must wait for, with longing. Rhiannon

Leaves me with the feeling I
Leaves me with the feeling I had after reading a Shakespeare sonnet many years ago. So true. The beauty of all living things is condemned to putrefaction. Did I spell that right? But maybe a moment of temporary beauty is enough

Nice to see you again Shannon
Nice to see you again Shannon! This reminds me of a song by Francoise Hardy - I think it's called 'la rose'. If you haven't heard it, do try to.
