A Kind of Loving

Scrubs the kitchen floor;
wonders where it went...
the passion that was theirs,
before. Even the brush
responds to the lino, yet,
she recalls she’s forgotten
what it’s like...victim,
as she is, of this midden,
and of these four walls,
shrinking in on her.
Wrings out a cloth – wipes
the oven door. Steel-eyed
nights stare blindly back
at her, as if she isn’t there
no more. In her customary
shower, rubs numb her
‘orange-peel’ thighs...
sagging tits; all the worse
for three kids too many.
Soap will wash away
the debris.

Hi Tina,
how so many married women will be able to relate
to this. When you've had children and worked hard
it kind of goes with the territory.
I know I could relate to it, except I only had one
child, but the rest, yes I could relate too.
Another great read.
Jenny.

Not too good to be stuck in
Not too good to be stuck in a rut like this woman but why regret having children just because your body looks aged..? I don't! Certainly not.
I think this may be a picture despite me not relating to it so much..

Gosh - very bleak. But
Gosh - very bleak. But excellent. Really powerful stuff. I liked the steel-eyed nights part.

This is brilliant, Tina. Very powerful indeed and as Jose says, very 'raw'. I wouldn't swap my wobbly bits for anything, though - they tell a story, map a life kind of thing, remind me of who I am and where I've come from. This is defintely one for the ladies, and this lady loved it - thank you :)
