-Duh of course we have Facebook, it’s just called something else.
-What’s it called here then?
-Soulbook.
-Oh I see, ‘cos you don’t have faces…ingenious.
-And you post these things because you’ll never see them again, just like they all do for you because they won’t see you, so they write these long rambling posts and tag you in them and then write on your wall, I mean the one you had when you were alive not your Soulwall.
-But I’m the one who died for god’s sake!
-Doesn’t matter it’s the same for you as it is for them, you’re both not going to see each other.
-I died and I have to do Facebook, I mean Soulbook, posts about them? That’s absurd. I should get the sympathy, I’m the one who suffered.
-Well you didn’t really and as you can see you’re much better off.
-But I wasn’t to know that before, I had to go through all the shitting myself with fear, the cancer, the shortness of breath, none of them had to!
-Look at it this way, you got it all over with, you can relax, they’ve got it all to contend with.
-Big thrills it wasn’t that difficult, in fact it was a piece of cake be quite happy to go through all of it again. And anyway how do I even know they wrote anything? They might not have written anything, there’s no way of checking.
-Just assume they did, anyway, people don’t just let someone die without saying nice things, and that’s exactly why you do it, they’re dead to you so you say nice things about them.
-And I never even finished my novel.
-Pardon me?
-Why are you laughing?
-Let’s not go there. Would it kill you to say a few nice but slightly exaggerated things about all the people you knew that you’ll never see again. I mean don’t you care? Don’t you miss them? Doesn’t at least a small part of you feel like you want to write something?
-But for every single person I knew, that would take ages.
-Not every, just the people you spent time with, family, the people who would have written about you.
- But what’s the point. They won’t be able to see what I wrote. They….
-It’s for us not for them for everyone here. You know that. They pretended to love you much more than they really did to show everyone else that they’re a good kind and loving person and you do the same. It’s just the reverse. You don’t think you don’t have to impress people up here? Why would it be any different?
-Why, because this is supposed to be paradise. Is that not a reasonable supposition to have made?
-Everyone will see that you didn’t write anything, everyone’ll look at your Soulbook and see it’s empty and think you’re a wanker. You wouldn’t want to start off on a bad footing. Just play the game. Why can’t you ever play the game?
-Can I borrow your phone then?
-Yes but I’m on 43%, it’ll need to be charged soon.
-Ok I’ll go and get my charger, just give me a second.
