Monolithic (Ch 4)

She must’ve stared too long as someone bumped into her, nearly knocking her down. “Watch it bitch!” The dude lashing out on her. She shrugged, and strutted over to the line on the right, leaning against the brick wall. The venue had a vibrant green sign with the Word Prestige hanging above the crowd below. Minx counted five missing bulbs.
The Prestige stood between two buildings, both abandoned, a pizza shop on the left and an antique store on the right.
The aroma of cheap beer and cheap weed filled the air. Minx being offered a hit of a joint by a dude with a red mohawk. She shrugged before taking a deep inhale, then exhaling slowly. “If you can't beat ‘em, join ‘em” as one says.
The weed felt weaker than what she usually smoked back at home. She felt a light sensation throughout her body, but nothing out of the ordinary.
Slowly the crowd of people shuffled through two entryways, she was fairly close to the entrance with the chance of being in front of the stage downstairs. She gave the usher her ticket. It was scanned and a portion was torn from the perforated line. She smiled at him, he didn’t respond at all, looking lifeless. Poor underpaid soul.
The venue was built in the 1800’s, with extravagant architecture and decor, now fading with time. Gold lining the ceiling, donned with ornament patterns. A chandelier with a few missing faux candles, but beautiful nonetheless.
She made her way downstairs to the floor seating.
Yes.
There it was.
The Stage.
Minx struck out getting a spot in the second row, more towards the right side. The lead singer, Ronnie Rogue’s, good side. At her 5’6 stature, plus heels, she had no worries if she was able to see or not.
She had her backpack on, surprised that they didn’t check the bags or purses. She felt people brushing against her bag trying to squeeze behind her. She was embarrassed and nervous if anyone would try to grab anything on the inside. There wasn’t anything but her wallet, leaving space for all the merch and autographs she was gonna score.
The theater on the inside, was a fairly large room with a wide stage. Which is now occupied by the opening act’s equipment and instruments. A black, felt, curtain was behind them with the name, Ocean’s Blue on it.
She didn’t care so much about Ocean’s Blue’s music. She thought they were too pop-ish for her liking, not enough big hair. Au Revoir Lips was her main squeeze, her butter and bread, her favorite band. She had the vintage t-shirts, vinyls, cd’s, old magazine clippings pasted on her wall. Included in her 80’s collage wall by her bed.
She had a major crush on Ronnie, nervous about meeting him potentially. With her auburn hair teased and curled to the high heavens. Red, alluring lips. Blue eyeshadow, with thick eyebrows and eyeliner to boot. Lacy corset, and tight leopard skirt.
How could he resist?

Quick Flash Back.....
Over the holidays, we (wife & i) with her niece & her boy friend went to a venue, old refurbished warehouse for a concert to see some of their university music grad friends =Indie Rock Band.
Running a bit late, I threw some casual clothes on, walked out & they told me, oh no, no way, cant wear that.... I actually had to dress down, baggy worn & faded cargo trousers, old/vintage Earth Day t-shirt =(my wife is just waiting with baited breath to thin my collection of the worn & torn favorites)....
We did the scoot on public transportation, train, zigzagged a few streets & ally ways....
The Concert (more like a jam session) of musicians + vocals, to raise money for Ukrainian refugees in the region... Line out the entrance, a blue haze - thick smell of good weed, inside, all organic homemade Vegi food for sale, local made brew & wines, arts & crafts to buy, +++.... The whole scene was cool, a bit vintage grunge, I saw a few leopard mini skirts, zebra knee high boots, tiger vest, etc...
( more blue haze)
(stunning graffiti style art work on the walls & doors)
(jam'n tunes)
Met up with their friends, sitting on benches & mixed match chairs & old fold out banquet tables, etc...... Feeling in the zone, a bit aged in the crowd, but all cool & chill'n.....
Did 2rounds of the homemade vegan lasagna + vegan chocolate brownies =<to-die for>
Later, went to the bar, ordered a round of drinks for us.... The bartender said; 'Cool Shirt, my Dad has one just like it'....... <fist bump>
... At least I can say....."I was there".... (back then & now & hav'n fun).....
Cool Piece T-M... enjjjjoooyyed it ;)......
