Autumn Leaves
Red Autumn leaves whirl round and leap
like dancing flames of wild desire
or hearts of those who’ve fallen deep in love.
They fail and fail again but keep
trying to leap a little higher,
hoping to touch bright autumn stars above.
Autumn Leaves Nursery Rhyme –
Red and Yellow and Orange and Brown;
Autumn leaves come tumbling down;
Brown and Orange and Yellow and Red;
tumbling down upon your head.

I never thought about leaves
I never thought about leaves leaping. This is an interesting phenomenon. Perhaps you need the swirling wind to catapault them towards the sky. It is the instigating force. I think that "or hearts" would sound better as "in hearts". It would mesh the two lines together.
I like the little nursery rhyme. It has a fun jingle to it. Thanks for christening the autumn season with your swinging poems.
