Mr Morpheus 6: The Master Of War

General Zerl sat at a table, in his private quarters upon his starcruiser, controlling the robotic invasion of Earth on his computer screen like a game.
Light years away on Earth, armies of humans were fighting and cities filled with people were being destroyed but they were just dots on his screen.
In the upper left corner of his Earth wide map over somehere called Russia, he saw that an Earth squadron of jet fighters, little blue arrows, were outnumbering some of his fighter drones, little red ones and so he pressed on an icon that said, "Teleport more Jet fighters" and dragged that icon across the screen to where his outnumbered fighters were.
Immediately another two squadrons of his jets appeared on the screen and the Earth squadron was wiped from the map.
But then he saw one of his robot batallions in a place called Nebraska, North America being defeated and so he pressed on an icon for, "Teleport robot infantry" and dragged it over to support his decimated robots.
"I wonder how long it will take them to realize they can't win?", he thought with a grin.
And how could they win? With his atomic replicator factories he could produce an unlimited number of robot infantrymen, flying tanks, fighter planes and bombers and then, using a mass teleporter, deploy them anywhere on their planet in a few seconds. They were fighting against a god of war.
But then, suddenly, what was that? Some new icon shaped like two M's had appeared in the middle right part of the screen, then it split in two and it split in two again and again and again, like some kind of single celled organism replicating and suddenly there was a swarm of them.
Then the swarm of double M's seemed to split up spreading to every country on the map and they were wiping out his forces.
"No!", he said, hammering his fist on his table, "This can't be happening. They don't have technology as advanced as mine".
Desperately, he started dragging more and more robot reinforcements across the screen, even teleporting hundreds of artificially intelligent missiles.
But as fast as he could deploy his robot forces, the double M icons could multiply.
And then he noticed something else.
One of those double M icons appeared to be growing bigger...almost as if...no, it was impossible...almost as if it were moving towards him.
But then, suddenly, something came crashing out of his computer screen as if through a window pane, knocking him and his chair backwards.
"What? What happened?", he said in a dazed, startled voice, lying helplessly sprawled upon his back next to his overturned chair.
But then, opening his eyes, he looked up and saw a man in a midnight blue mask and skintight suit standing over him.
"What are you?", asked the General.
"I'm Mr Morpheus, protector of the Earth", said the man.
"I don't believe it", said Zerl.
But then, crouching down, Mr Morpheus placed a blue gloved hand upon the generals forehead.
"So you like playing video games with planets do you?", he said, "But then you never know all the pain and grief that you're inflicting to all those little dots on your screen; mothers, fathers, children, husbands, wives, sisters and brothers".
"I don't care about those", said the General scowling and glaring at Morpheus.
"Well maybe I can fix that", said Morpheus.
Then suddenly, through Mr Morpheus, out of his hand and into the mind of the Alien general flowed thousands of human memories; memories of the agonizing deaths of all the people he had killed and the agonizing grief of those they had left behind.
And as the flood of memories poured in tears started rolling from his eyes and down his cheeks.
"I never knew", he said, "I never knew what I was doing".
"Maybe now you'll stop", said Morpheus.
"Yes", said Zerl.
But then he saw Mr Morpheus pick up his computer, the screen of which seemed to have miraculously repaired itself, and he heard him playing some kind of computer game.
"Oh I remember this", said Morpheus smiling and manipulating a joystick.
"What?", said Zerl picking himself up from the ground.
"Pac Man", he said, laughing as he looked at the screen, "Wow those ghosts never give up do they?".
But then he handed the computer to Zerl.
"Why don't you play that instead?", he said, "Its more fun and no one gets hurt"
Zerl looked down at the little chomping yellow head on the screen, eating up white power pills and being chased by ghosts around a maze.
But then, looking back up from the screen, he realized that Mr Morpheus had gone.
Suddenly, however, the warlords eyes flashed with the light of a brilliant idea and turning towards the door of his private quarters he shouted,
"Lieutenant!".
The door of the room slid automatically open and one of his robot officers entered before standing to attention.
"Yes general?", asked the Robot.
"Tell all the officers that we're leaving the Earth", said Zerl, "I've decided to give up the war business, go into a new line of work".
"Yes, sir", said the Robot but then, scratching its head with a mechanical hand, asked, "May I ask what business we're going into, sir".
"Yes", said Zerl, holding up his computer and smiling, "We're going to make computer games".
