Listening to Sweet on a stereo,
or anything without an I- in front.
Reading a split-spined Spillane
instead of Kafka on a Kindle.
Prawn cocktail in avocado,
steak and chips, the two Blacks:
Forest Gateau and Tower,
instead of asian fusion cuisine
with ingredients from fair-trade sources.
Realising -like Robbie- that
it's not so bad
that I'm now my dad.

It is about the joy of the naff: about how we (I, you, society if you like) look down on what people like. I do it all the time, but what right have I got to do that? I thought I was the bee´s knees the first time I bought a girlfriend dinner in the Berni Inn. We had all those things to eat, it´s not what I´d choose now, but it doesn´t make the memory any less cherished, just slightly embarrassing. Like Sweet.Or enjoying reading Mickey Spillane.

I used to love black forest gateau with ice cream and I live in fear of turning in to my father (even being a girl doesn't lessen the fear). Anyone remember Lemon Curd - such a treat! Didn't know you were so prolific Ewan. So much writing.
