Rise and shine

You traveled the world, discovered a lot. You'd pinpoint countries on the map of the world that you wanted to visit and when you were in agreement book the tickets, it was exhilarating; a great life.

Since death closed his eyes you struggle to open yours, blinking only to remember the happier times. He visits sometimes to check on you and you feel his warmth when he smiles. When he turns to leave the grease across his cheek shines, brandished and real. Long hours at work- early joint pain but still that smile, forever an adventure; your motto.

Blink, the scorching heat of the African sun how you remembers the sun rise to greet him, when you traveled in the air balloon. Today the skies are mostly overcast but sometimes the sun finds enough time to shine and you remember, how he'd be made up, he'd say; a sign of good things to come.

So everyday you tried, so hard to shine, until one day the sparkling star of your life faded and your eyes didn't want to venture on, slowly the shadows began to engulf their vision.

Blink again, your visions a little hazy but remembering him is how you stay awake. Lay your head down and rest, memories never fade and dreaming will always continue. It's not all ashes and dust its moments that will always exist in your heart.
