Chiselled in granite
no cracks on the surface
not a single cavity within the frame
this is not a clouded state
of confusion
and decay
but an archetype
of wisdom
hurled 1000 light years
into the future
where we dare not tread
we images of insanity
reaching out to feel
bonds and resistance
the freedom we know
is limited
by losing our words
and in the rising of the poisonous
bile
only the young shall be released

As an American , this makes me think of the Martin Luther King statue that was just erected. So far , but in some ways not so far.

I like this a lot. Before I read your explanation, this made me think of our ancestors sending themselves into the future through us, their unblemished children. I like the powerful style you use. it's adamant.

Hello Pia,
there's quite a lot of truth in what you have
written here.
When we come into the world, we are perfect, but
the moment we are born, the long journey of being a human and all its tragedies and consequences begins.
This was how I read your poem, hope that it was
right what I read.
I wish you all the luck in the world with the
competition.
Jenny.

I had to read this several times-but think I got it. It's very powerful and enigmatic. You know your writing just gets better and better Pia. Good luck in the comp. I won't be enerting. Firstly, I have the dreaded writers block. Secondly, I find the whole cherry thing stressful enough without worrying about competitions. But then that's just me!

I like this quite a bit. It comes at a fitting time here in America with the "occupy wall street" movement, not to politicize the poetry thread.
