FIX YOUR EYES

tim was an optometrist
his shop called 'fix your eyes"
and he provided spectacles
of every shape and size

one day a girl named beatrice
walked blindly to his shop
when tim first caught a glimpse at her
he thought his heart would stop

her eyes were green and golden
like a wild exotic bird
unfortunately, beatrice
had vision badly blurred

but tim corrected things for her
and when they'd got that straight
he mustered up his courage
and he asked her for a date

she said she had a boyfriend
and poor tim felt his heart crack
he watched as she walked out the door
so sure she'd not be back

but nearly six weeks later
she walked in and called his name
she said she'd had an accident
and broke her glasses frame

tim fixed them in short order
they were just as good as new
she turned and walked away once more
tim thought that they were through

but then she turned and looked at him
and said, "i must confess
i broke my frame on purpose, tim
a silly thing, i guess"

"that boyfriend that i used to have ?
i caught him with my friend
i never saw that coming, tim
i told him 'its the end' "

so if you'd like to have that date
i'd love to see you, tim
and in that shop called 'fix your eyes"
she fixed her eyes on him
