She
the TV chef
smiles weakly
can no longer speak
her words molasses thick
poured slowly, though she tries
to sprinkle liberally those clichéd
stock phrases, tangle of slaw, for example
for which she's famous. Meanwhile cut to footage
of Christmas scenes, friends feasting, festive delights;
forced jollity, the most depressing thing I've seen this year -
the self-styled queen of fairy lights, Stepford-gone completely.
Finally, the ham takes centre stage; burnished dark-smoky treacly.
