ALL ABOARD THE EU BUS (IP)
By Linda Wigzell Cress

Round and round the argument goes
IN or OUT? No bugger knows
What’s best for us the great unwashed
With no degrees? What is the cost
Of independence from EU –
If we opt out, what will we do?
All our heads are in a spin
Should poor vote OUT and rich vote IN?
OUT to stop mass immigration –
And reclaim self-determination?
IN to maintain love and peace -
And get cheap holidays in Greece?
NO to save our Britishness?
YES to avoid economic mess?
Obama tells us to stay IN –
WTF’s it got to do with him!
If no solution can be found
What will then become of us?
The arguments go round and round –
Like the wheels on the EU bus.

Very topical, Linda, and so
Very topical, Linda, and so true. Nobody knows what the consequences are but from what I hear we are doomed whichever way the vote goes.
As for your question about WTF is Obama's intervention is about, perhaps the answer lies in the TTIP (Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership) a treaty secretly being negotiated between the EU and the U.S. which would open the European market to the latter. Worth reading about it.

Good poem! I agree that it is
Good poem! I agree that it is all very confusing and a bit scary. How are we mere mortals to decide what is best for us all?

Like the poem. It has a nice rap cadence to it.
The President's comments should never have been a surprise as ever since WWII America has been pushing for Britain to become more integrated into Europe. The BREXIT group were very quick to jump on the President for being a foreign interferer. Yet they fell strangely silent when another foreigner, an American at that, offered his opinion on leaving.
So to the BREXIT group it is fine to express an opinion if it is in line with their objectives but it becomes interference when it is contrary.
Well done for the poem as I think you will spark some debate as any art that creates a reaction is good art.

Vents your frustration nicely
Vents your frustration nicely, Linda, and chimes with everyone else's. Sometimes the machine will just do what it will do, and we little people just get swept along. The fight is probably between very powerful interests whose names we'll never know. Probably the same ones who profit from sending us all off to war. Great post.
