The Friendship that never waned
(With Jnana)
P K Rotray
Moments to minutes, hours to days,
years to decades pass and memories haze
but stands the mid-teens bondage of the prime age
serving us as source of inspiration, motivation and courage
to live a life its full length with reasonable pleasure
hence the dear friends and time spent with them, we treasure.
Though we got engrossed in our mundane life and career
rearing up our family shaping our son and daughter
but when the tribulations of life were too heavy to bear
we ran to those friends to get solace on their shoulder.
That friendship never waned despite the frowns by life
rather it blazed while intervening to mitigate a friend’s strife.
when we met to alleviate the predicament faced by the other
tears rolled, cries yelled but concluded with thunder of laughter
as if we becme sure like any other misfortue it will go
nothing is permanent a coin has two faces to show.
Forget we that time has made us gray haired grand father
we turn for our grandchildren, from mentor to competitor.
As god sent gift when we meet over some occasions
to our hearts’ content we gossip and steam off our tensions.
In your absence we felt your presence when we met together
as over phone we get your active response and witty answer.
Now Jnana has parted us for a place out of our mortal reach.
Please spare Jnana when we friends meet, Thus Thee we beseech.
