Burnt Out
by Paul McCann
Working too much ,
starting to loose touch ,
can’t stop thinking about you
and that’s just enough to help me get through ,
all the things that I have to do.
Burnt out in a busy place
and there is no space left it seems ,
it’s always the same ,
no pain , no gain
when you want to achieve your dreams .
Burnt out is just an end to the means
but it doesn’t mean that I lost my dreams
between the seams of the air pockets I found up there.
We need time to chill
and let the glass refill in the still of the night
and hold each other tight and let the love sink in
and the healing begin to take a hold of the body and soul.
Burnt out like raw nerve
hanging on to a curve between my heart and mind ,
I’m like a lead balloon trying to rise above
and leave it all behind.
Burnt out means I give everything
and in a loving way every day
and somehow I made a my way
in between here and there.
All that we make ,
some people take , for granted along the way ,
but there will come a day when all they wanted
will become as useless as the words they couldn’t say.
Burnt out like a steel claw
trying to hold on as the sand slips away
like the light of a star that shone from afar
in the sky through my eye
just the other day
before it faded away.
Burnt out is not all is seems
when you can’t hear the screams
that are locked away from all of the world out there.
