Precious ornaments

Fragile with memories

Sparkling with 

Tinsel boughs 

And twinkling lights

On display

But once a year

Old friends   

Passed down

From parent

To child

To grandchild

To great-grandchild

Hung on the tree

With care

Some tears

And smiles

To shine  

From Christmas past

To

Christmas present

Bringing

Love

And the spirit

Of family

Home for Christmas

The best kind of decorations to put on your Christmas tree!

Truly so,and priceless to the beholder of those stick santas and clothespin reindeer given to me from the tiny hands of my once small boys- both in their thirties now. And Those fragile glass ornaments passed to me from my grandmother's tree are maybe a little thinner every year, but they still shine brightly among the lights and tinsel. it's the family moments captured in those ornaments that always gives me the spirit of love and yuletide.

This is exactly my Christmas tree!  Stuff handed down, and a lot of stuff my children made when they were little.  The tree is a real presence at our family Christmas.  Lovely poem, Penny.

Thank you airyfairy- so nice to find a kindred spirit - nothing can replace those handmade with love ornaments from our children or those old glass treasures passed down from our parents and grandparents - I don't beleive even a Tiffany star would be as precious to me or look as beautiful on my tree.
