Isolation

People find isolation
a boon or a bane
some like solitude
but others go insane.
 
I relish the spare time
that's at my disposal
however our distancing
is by far anti-social.
 
It is said it's imprudent
to go into a huddle
or to give grandchildren
an affectionate cuddle.
 
When I am on my own,
every now and again
I play jazz recordings
of Johnny Coltrane,
 
of Ella, Fats Domino
Gillespie, Glenn Miller,
or I am lost to the world
in the pages of a thriller.
 
I'm not a culture vulture;
I don't think it is wrong
to additionally listen
to some popular song.
 
The Beatles are O.K.
but I make no bones:
I prefer Mick Jagger
and the Rolling stones.
 
As far as I'm concerned
there's nothing to worry.
I am happy being lazy
and don't feel at all sorry.

It hasn't affected me dramatically in a negative sense compared to others and I'm still working so I'm grateful that, but on a personal level, I miss hugs, my friends, my favourite coffee shop, the garden centre, the hairdressers...now that so think about it...quite a few things! I'm glad you are lazily enjoying your books and music though! Enjoyed your rhymes. Rachel x

Thanks for pointing out the omission, Trevor.  It was a case of not crossing the T. Lol.
All my relatives, who have been in seclusion for two months now, are alright. We are too. We have a nice garden to exercise in but in England people are allowed to go for walks without permits, as it is the case in Italy, as long as they are sensible enough to maintain safe distances.
