Yes, I’ll be glad when that bellicose rumble
Like disquieting thunder over jagged hills
Is gone for good
I’ve known it from birth
Its echo always in the air
Indistinct, but stifling
They used to say this place had an atmosphere
Darkness
A kind of dread
It lingered when the storm had passed
A child born in a cavern doesn’t know it’s dark
Until it learns to live beneath the sky
Still you pull the curtains on the sun
Preferring darkness
Still the thunder in the hills

I love this, full of stormy foreboding. Love the power of the last few lines.
