confessions of a social phobic during lockdown

Your 'new normal' is my 'normal'
your once freedoms my curse
locked down for the winter
I feel no better, nor worse.
Yet I am far less isolated now 
with people forced to hide
it gives me the courage to face the world
to take the plunge outside
and there I sometimes see fear (the old familiar sting)
in dead corners of strangers' eyes
neighbours reluctant to reach their doors
behind which covid skies reside.
And I skip on past their lit windows
a lot more human, a connected me
my bubble of 'one' now big enough 
to feel less loneliness inside.

agree with marandina - and I realise this poem is about social phobia - but it would be lovely to hear this at our reading event if you'd be up for it?

Love this - nice rhymes, I wsih I didnt have to go out at all, and must - very grateful for every extra space without another human in it - all the spaces on the trains, favourite ones at the mo. I liked how going out and feeling more full, for the space the speaker had to move in. Alone time out -really does require not another human wanting to chat right now- park benches, esp problematic. Relatable lockdown poem -enjoyed :)
