Moonwort
By onemorething
- 909 reads
Unconscious truths are unsettled
under moonlight, by hedgerows
the silverbloom of satinpods
blossoms in the darkness.
In violet spray, they haunt
a country lane, and the ghostly faces
of silicles germ themselves, faithful
only to a neural pathway of survival.
This honesty arrives as a sudden sight
of the universe as I see it, to me -
a sadness in a revelation of light, where,
in the spirit of Aletheia, any disclosure
can only falter with fear. So place
their lunar pennies upon my eyes,
these hot seeds will dismiss
every devil, and I will no longer be
afraid of each and every terrible night.

I've never heard Honesty
I've never heard Honesty called Moonwort, but i suppose it is from its latin name. I love seeing it and the silver pennies shining in the winter and in indoor decorations. It's nice to have these names, Honesty, Thrift, Thyme, but it seems incongruous to associate honesty with fear of disclosures. Rhiannon
