I Maybe Only Twelve

I maybe only twelve but I think I’ve earned my crust
I’ve never killed a rabbit or let my cycle rust
I stand behind the tallest boys so that my face is hid
I only talk to strangers when the time is ripe for it.
Being only twelve I have no time for love
Unless it is for soccer and when push then comes to shove
I’m not a very thoughtful boy and yes it might be said
I sometimes lurch before I think and end up nearly dead.
School is not that fun for me and every day’s a trial
I’d rather be in Antarctica or halfway up the Nile
I seem to be the butt of every Bully’s evil plan
And the only friend I have in school is the Janitor known as Stan.
My teenage years they lay ahead and perhaps life will be better
I wouldn’t say I’m hopeful well not inside this sweater!
My mother and my Father at least they seem to care
They always make sure I have my Tea and regularly cut my hair.
So I will end this tale of one who’s reached the age of twelve
Who’s yet to make a mark upon his own confusing world.
