The Call of Vengeance

The shadows appeared ominous against the walls as she made her way through the dark ally , her eyes darting anxiously as if she'd be able to make out the tail that's following her . She feigned a shiver as she brought shaking hands towards her face as if she's willing herself to stay in control.Though her attention was briefly drawn towards a tin can that screeched across the paved road, missing the cars wheel in front of her with mere inches , causing her to crouch whilst staggering as if she was about to fall .The keys in her hand landed on the ground and echoed like a gunshot yet everything else appeared undisturbed and she knew it would be a mistake to assume as much.
Once again her eyes darted from beneath the black hat but this time it belied the posture of the woman , they were alight with defiance and a cold calculated readiness but all that met her was the silence .She could feel the presence and eyes that followed her every move. Whoever it was wasn't about to come out of the shadows out of their own accord. So she decided to keep moving, no use in making herself a target she needs to keep herself shielded off from any form of hits that might come her way , her hands became more shaky as she picked up the keys and started to move .Just as she had anticipated ,whomever it was took the bait , a step was taken and then halted testing to see if she picked up the movement.
The woman smiled as she lowered her head .Her pace was deliberately slower as she turned the corner, a cul de sac , it was darker than what she anticipated ,but it suited her. She didn't turn around instead she kept on moving . The person behind her wasn't hiding their presence anymore it was audible in the steps and breathing.Whomever it was no longer cared if she'd be alerted by their presence. Once again she choose to feign a look of surprise and shock . She shrieked as she turned around .The man in front of her was unknown to her, but the hardened face and and eyes told her he knew everything about her .
"You've grown, i see" The words were spatted out with such hatred . It baffled her.
There was nothing about the man that appeared to be familiar. She tried to bring forth any recollection of him and decided to keep him in the dark a little bit longer .She needed answers.
"Who are you? " She asked in a shaky voice
The man in front of her smiled sardonically .
"Wouldn't you like to know , you've been meddling in affairs that you shouldn't be meddling in , now it's time to say night night.''
It was clear that she was not leaving that alley alive .Whomever this man was he was there for one reason and it was for her.He suddenly lurched forward trying to tie her down in a steel grip and Tamron swiftly moved out of his way an act that surprised him and she couldn't help it, she smiled.
"My my little girl has a few tricks up her sleeve" He sneered angered that she caught him off guard.
Tamron gave him her sweetest smile knowing that it would enfuriate him more.
"You don't know the half of it " She replied with a coldness in her tone that matched his.
The mans eyes slitted and he was more wary of her now she could tell the moment he realized that she was an adversary he mustn't underestimate and that he was probably far off the mark where she was concerned. As he moved closer instead of backwards she knew she shouldn't underestimate him either, cause he intended to find out just how good she was . She wondered if she should just knock him out cold and be done with it and decided against it . The answers were within her reach she must just play for more time for as long as she could.
"Who are you and who send you ?''She fired off.
The man didn't answer but made a go at her again, in his hand the knife glistened due to the dim light that casted on it. The time for talk was over. He was clearly skilled when it comes to doing his job without giving anything away and she decided so be it .She will get her answers with or without him.
She grabbed his arm as he lunged out again holding it in a stealthy grip, the shock in his eyes belied his own strength as he fought the hold she had on him, and threw his arm backwards intending on landing a deadly blow. Once again she moved swiftly and out of his reach. She pressed the nerve on the inside of his hand .He will be temporarily paralysed causing the knife to fall from his liveless fingers , giving her the chance to thrushed his face against the wall.
"Surprised are you? Guess what little girl has been working out .''
She made sure his face felt the impact as she thrushed his against the pavement .It smothered any ill wishes he that he intended to send her way .He made it clear he wasn't going to make things easier for her . She didn't leave him much room to try anything , the phones ringtone stopped his attempts of freeing himself and he kicked his leg backwards trying to throw her of balance and she immediately went for the knee .His screams sliced through the night simultaneously with the splinter sound of his leg. She heard the snap the moment she dealt the blow but it left her cold , blood spilled from his swollen lips as he tried to ward off any attempt of her trying to reach his cell and she knew then that was her ticket into getting the answers. She deftly throw another blow and the man fell motionless to the side, as the phone kept ringing the caller unaware that the man will not be available for a few hours. She reached inside his pocket and flipped the phone open DRAGGO appeared on the caller Id and as far she could tell from his insistence DRAGGO was a very impatient man and doesn't like to wait on anyone. She clicked accept and heard a melody playing in the background and along with the angered short breaths of a man .
"Is she dead and why have you taken so long to answer. You were suppose to call back a few hours ago. What the hell is the hold up!''
Somewhere a memory stirred in Tamron the voice sounded familiar as well as the melody playing in the background. Although the voice sounded much older ,though it was steady and commanding, a voice that instilled fear and obedience. She had a name , a voice and finally a memory and she spoke
"No she's not....''She said in a cold and angered tone.
The man went silent , but she could still hear him breathing on the other side .He waited a few seconds then ended the call.
Tamron shook with fury as she looked at the dead phone in her hands willing it to ring again it didn't happen .She looked at the unconscious man on the ground and placed the phone back in his pocket , if Draggo made use of his services again this man might lead her to him and to getting the answers to questions that altered her life so cruelly thirty years ago.
She lowered her head as she turned on her heels , her movements sure and swift as she took in her surroundings with allerted eyes .This time there was no longer an underlying message of danger in its dark depths. As she turned the street corner she became one with the night .

Nice cliffhanger at the end -
Nice cliffhanger at the end - well done. If you're looking for suggestions, I'd say the tense you're writing in seems to weave between the past and the present which makes it sound a bit clunky sometimes
Very glad you managed to post it in the end - apologies for the glitch!
