It Is About Time The Law Was Changed.

I heard some shocking news this week. In fact, I have heard some shocking news last year, and many years ago. The law in the United Kingdom needs to change, I think.

On Wednesday, this week a sixty year old grandmother, was knocked over and killed, she died at the scene. That was sad enough, but the sad thing is that the driver that knocked her down and killed her was a twelve year old child!

It gets worse, not only was it a child, he also had a knife! He clearly is no good, at all.

She was named yesterday, but the reason why I think the law should be changed is, “He can’t be named for legal reasons.”

I think the law should be changed, for if he can do that age twelve, what can he do  at an older age, what other damage will he do age fifteen?

Today he has been charged with her murder! Thank goodness it is murder and not manslaughter.

He won’t get a long sentence; I am guessing only three years. This grandmother, could have lived for another thirty years!

I wonder what his family is like? Will they be devastated? With a knife with him, in the car, was it just a matter of time?

We need to know who he is, so that when he gets out, people can watch out for him, for he Will do it again!

I have seen the car, it is a big, she had no chance. These hit and run drivers very rarely get killed, it is their passenger or the pedestrian, that pays the ultimate price, of death.

For this ‘lucky’ child, he will be unknown to us all, protected by the law, given everything. He will have a new name, new ID and good food, good clothes, good laptops, good education, good computer games, good gyms, everything. He will have a really Good Life!

If he is given much luxury, but no-one to lead him in how to change his life to usefulness, he will have a very sad life. Rhiannon

And if he had killed someone you and I knew, than he would have gotten away with Murder.  A sad life for doing what he did, would mean he got away scott free. He can choose to be very happy or choose to be unhappy. He can Life His Life! She can't.

So sad, and it does and should make us angry. He should certainly take responsibility at that age. I suppose he will pay for it in many ways as he goes through life. I do think the community should know who did it, and be aware of the danger that person could present.

Yes he should take responsibility, for what he has done.

My Husband said to me that those who live on his road will know who he is, but I replied that is only 30 people compared to the millions who live in England.

I think if his name is hidden from us then it will be OK for him to do it again when he comes out from kiddie jail in a few years and do worse! I think if he can do that at just age 12 and have a knife, . in the car, then he is NO good!

Now if he was so spend the rest of his natural life in  jail but he wont, then that would be justice and he would not do that ever again to another family

Name the (12 year old) child? You might as well organise a lynching party. Put him in the village stocks for people to stone him or cut off his hands so he can't steal. 

You only know what the media says and they are SOOO honest huh?

You can't know the circumstances. Did he lose control or did he deliberately plough into the woman

What kind of upbringing he's had? What kind of parents (if he had any) are they? He might be a young psychopath or just seriously misguided by his peers. Only psychologists will be able to judge or find out.

Sure he needs to be separated from his environment and evaluated. Only then can sensible decisions be made about what to do with him.

Oh so suddenly I am the Baddie! It wasn't my mother he ran over. Who do You love the most in this World, imagine instead it were them! I couldn't imagine what that must be like and I assume you can't imagine that  either!

Ok then if it makes you happy. Set him Free! I give up. You and the boy win! Let him do as he please, no rules, no jail time, no nothing, send him to Disney Land, save tax payers money that would be wasted on him in jail and just give him the money instead!

Forgivness has Nothing to do with it!! There is nothing to forgive!

Oh, Ed, I've just seen your word to me! I don't usually go back again and again on threads!

But I really intended my brief comment above to be an urge to compassion, and like you I was aware the lad had probably not had much guidance (our society doesn't give much guidance to parents on how to guide children really), and bad influences, peers. So I was trying to point out that giving him luxury, but no-one to come alongside to help, would be a real loss to him. Maybe I'm being a bit complex, but compassion for him wants him to be able to change and be happier, not condemn, but certainly it would involve him really seeing the wrong for his own benefit and happiness and usefulness to himself and others. Oh, am I clear at all?!

The meaning of Easter is that we have a living Saviour who wants us to help others to turn to the right and that it is possible with His help. Rhiannon

You gave your opinion, I offered mine. I just don't think naming him is right, chances are it would make a bad situation worse for the local residents. I saw the Guardian report on google and I still have the same opinion. 

This is the sad negative side of a free yet uneven consumer based society. A price we have to pay for freedom for all. However we shouldn't drop our standards of human rights. 

Certainly the boy shouldn't get off scott free. Incaserating him will probably be the best thing to happen to him, taking him away from his background. Hopefully with the right treatment he will learn what he missed out on in his failed upbringing and face up to his crime. Throwing him in Jail for a few years and kicking him out to go back to where he was before would also be a crime.

Chill Maxine, take a trip to TKMaxx the World will seem a bit better then :)
