Blackberry Times
By Paul McCann
Back then in Blackberry times
life seemed so much different than now ,
looking back to those childhood days
we were better off somehow .
Blackberry picking on Sunday
with all of my family .
for hours and hours ,
we put them in jars
and we were so happy .
We had blackberries in boxes
we had blackberries in pots ,
and on my face and hands ,
I was covered in blackberry spots .
We all drove home with our blackberries
in the boot of the car ,
blackberries were free
up the mountains ,
which wasn’t really far .
We had blackberries lined up
in jars along the window sill ,
and in our house , we ate blackberries
until we had our fill.
Blackberry jam on burnt toast ,
blackberry stains over my shirt ,
blackberry muffins at school ,
blackberry jelly for desert .
Blackberry biscuits for Ma
with a cup of blackberry tea ,
blackberries growing where no one knows
are growing for you and me.

Mcscraic, Blackberry Times.
I can taste the sentiment in your annunciation, as I savor the moment.

Blackberries frozen so easily
Blackberries frozen so easily these days so we can have blackberry and apple crumble in the later months! I remember picking bliberiies up the mountain, but never got many into the jar compared with the rest of the family - too slow and too much enjoying tasting! Rhiannon

Sounds like you
Sounds like you like blackberries, all I know is blackberry jam, yes tastes good but don't you get tired of them? And so much time in the pursuit of blackberries. Although they are free?
I liked instant oats and banana bread a lot – and coke, but I got tired of it after a few years.
Interesting idea for a song! Tom

Reading gave me the rich
Reading gave me the rich smell of blackberries cooking for jam - and I have some still in our larder; a lovely evocation Paul.
