Reaching out …

Remote from family
or friends of past years:
can we bridge the break,
quell anger, fears?
get in touch, show concern,
(do we – really – care?)
attempt to return,
forgive, forbear?
Reach out from remoteness,
just pick up a phone,
or message, be friendly:
rapprochement begun!
Remote from the God
of the universe.
It’s not his fault – so could
it be ours? – of course!
‘He would not want me!’
Would you like to belong?
He calls, “Come, to be
my child, my son!”
Reach out from remoteness,
just lift up true prayer,
respectful and humble,
and he will draw near.

To err is human
To err is human, but it feels divine- just a joke! It is always best to forgive, and to make sure it doesn't happen again.
The nature of God will always remain a mystery to mortals.
All the best Rhiannon! Tom

Losing friends in our times
Losing friends in our times is a well known thing now. (I think I never lost as many as in the years from 2020 onwards...) As you say in your poem, the loss of God does not help, for there are eternal values, such as forgiveness and love and also trust in The Eternal Source, essential to survive the odds.
