His mind directs his vocal chords,
vibrations emanate.
They reach an ear, and so his words
its tunnel permeate
The ear-drum trembles – tiny bones
the pressure-waves transmit
so that the speakers's very tones
the window-membrane hit
on the shell-like inner ear – it's full
of liquid, there nerve hairs
respond as pressure patterns fall
upon them, so they send
electrical pulses of the waves
to somewhere in the brain,
which then translates, records and saves
and shares the words and sound
with facts and statements heard and found
before, to correlate, compare:
for composition
of response for sensible discussion
(or bypassed for quick 'shoot form the hip' blast
with little meditation)
sending impulses to tongue and vocal chords
to activate responsive speech … hopefully words
he hears will be of worth
as they flow forth
to enter now his ears …!
