Waiting now, but still glad to comfort

“Come, sit on my lap’,” said the old lady,
her legs now fragile and thin,
her mind back in youth and the enjoyment
to a tired child she could bring.
“I’m waiting, waiting, won’t be long -
you are waiting too, aren’t you?”
Soon, He’ll come to take us on
to the place where He has gone.

I think I'd be like the lady

I think I'd be like the lady in your poem. Remembering younger days is a special gift when you're old, something nobody can take away.
A realistic poem of acceptance that I think I would relate to in later life.
