“Hide and Seek”

Looking after grandkids while the parents shop:
occupied with this and that awhile – then ‘Stop!
Let’s play “hide and seek” – we hide, Grandad seek’.
– He doesn’t rush to find the toes that ‘peep’
beneath the curtain, and swoop to regular places,
but soon they all are rounded up from favourite spaces.
‘You hide now, Grandad!’ His home he well knew
and had good schemes and hidden spots in mental view.
But after a while of unproductive search, frustrated tears,
impatient search exhausted –’Where are you Grandad?’
– Grandad appears!
It’s like when you play games with a little child -–
how much of your experience and knowledge do you hide?
You see all the answers, but want them to try,
have time to search, and see some by and by.
