Stopping in the street
pausing for a moment
to capture like a lens
a snapshot night scene
realising empty daydream
just the moon and me
shadows cast across the snow
and parked cars
droplets of breath
drip and twinkle as icy mist
a ghostly trail
from my alcohol dry lips
At the crossroad of my street
I can see where I live
I can see my home
where the future sits
Outside the pub
beer barrels stand forlorn
simple and wet
an ancient lantern bows
to doff its illuminated cap
waiting for my next step
listening to my nothingness
Just the moon and me
pausing for a moment

Hi the unfolding head,
I like the way you describe what you see as you
make your way home, you have really captivated
the moment.
Thanks for the read.

Hi unfold.
I thought this tale was excellent.
I can see it in black and white, film noir.

Don't know how I missed this one. Love the imagery throughout, with the last two stanzas 'the icing on the cake'. Very much enjoyed.
