standing firmly on the ground
in a plié
time is bound to a solid movement
swirling in a pirouette
time is passing quickly
the lover's fond exchange
in a pas de deux
time stands still
embracing the moment
in a Spanish Fourth
time is the present
floating above ground
in pointe shoes
time is vapour and atmosphere
so sweet and kind
unfolding time in an arabesque
so elegantly the ballerina stretches
a Coda brings the murmur
of dancing shoes in a crowd
pounding gently on the stage
time is synchronised
a Danseur Noble takes the ballerina
in a Fish Dive
time suspended on the horizon
sunset bringing on the dark night
time reaching for the dawn

I think this works excellently, pia. The line structure which you use, gives the poem a gentle rhythm reminiscent of the graceful movement of a ballerina. Culminating, of course, in that lovely last line. Much enjoyed;-) Tina

new Highhat Hello! This is great. Sorry no reply yet to you. Just tuned in here. Both nursing bad bug cold and throat, laughing, who is worse. You must be a mind reader, did you do ballett? Great poem of time and poise, elderly adults can now joing. Yep I always wanted to be one. Now achieved shoes and tu-tu. If one types into web; it show the beg; steps. I couldn't go 5 lessons cos. back. But one day I will put on quietly? Here and tu-tu and pink tights and just do st five steps. To most favouite ballet "Swan Lake" bought a week ago. And the film we saw daughter and I. "Natalie Portman" in "The Black Swan" great mind wise job understand, top actress award."The Kings Speech" brilliant "Colin Firth. I fell over on the pavement ow! Daughter's new wedged boots bought me. Must be the old devil fat moon, as you say. Love the way you have made steps and proper names to ballett in a poem, very clever. Hi Jenny It struck me, in my age of ease, that time may very well be a ballet with the beautiful movements. I like contemporary ballet as well but I suppose I am a bit old fashioned when I hang on to the classical which is the main theme here. Have seen Nutcracker and Swan Lake with the Royal Danish Ballet Company. Have only seen contemporary on the telly. Thank you so much for your kind comment. Glad you enjoyed it. Pia ;)

Julie so kind of you to leave a comment. Thank you very much. well a very beautiful place in Denmark would be the big beech forests. In Spring the ground between the trees is simply abundant with white anemones (and yellow and blue ones in the south)- it is such a joy to see. We have a very long winter, i.e the light dwindles and it is very grey but the days with thick snow on the ground and the sun up high are pretty charming. The forest is my favourite place of beauty. In summer we have lots of sun and in winter lots of thick snow. We have temperatures up to 30 degrees C. in summer and in winter down 15 below zero. I like the summer the most. Heat doesn't worry me- all the flowers are blooming and children play outside until late in the evening (the sun doesn't set until 11 o'clock and rises at 3am)the blackbird is chirping and the young people look at each other with love in their eyes. Hi Pia, yes I do love ballet and have seen Swan Lake and The Nutcracker, but sadly only on TV on the arts channel, but I was mesmerized, simply beautiful. Congratulations on the cherries well deserved. Jenny.

Pia, I like the visual quality of the poem, the repitition, the clever choice of language. This poem has a delicate, gossamer touch. It's terribly abstract but concrete and substantial at the same time. Am I making any sense? Nice! Nice! Nice poem!
