The World is Closed

The world is closed now
Don’t come
Last orders were called
But still you ordered more
As if there was no tomorrow
And there wasn’t
You’ve had a skinfull
And you’re sick
Hot ashes in the bin
Quietly smouldering
You were too busy
To notice, always
Rushing to the next thing
On your little screen
As it melted right through you
Something’s burning
Can’t you smell it?
It’s not safe to swim here
The water is toxic
And the sea is tangled
With everything you ever wanted
It’s everywhere
Seeping into your lungs
Soaking through your veins
You’re sweating it out
Poison, I can taste it
There are big problems here
But who has the nerve
To leave this game unfinished?
It’s too loud
Turn it down
And it’s too bright
Don’t come, there are too many
Already,
The roads are backed up
And we’ve run out of everything
There must be a way to make more
And make it faster
So we can burn quicker

As if there was no tomorrow
Brilliant! These are powerful words Jane, and depressing, but also true. And what's equally depressing is the fact that so many of us don't see that there is a problem, or we just choose to ignore it.
Good on you for sharing your thoughts.

Bring back the olden days. A sharp, gloom of a piece. Sometimes we need shards to hurt us, to see clearly! Hello Jane.
